DEFINITIONS AND WARNINGS GOVERNING THE PURCHASE AND USE OF PRODUCTS AND USE OF PROOF TEST CERTIFICATES.

  1. All slings are fabricated, inspected, tested and certified according to, and rated capacities are based upon the following (as applicable). Federal Specifications RR-W-410D, ASME B30.9, API 9A, 9B&2D, The Wire Rope Technical Board’s “Wire Rope Users Manual” and “Wire Rope Sling Users manual”, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s “Industrial Slings”. Dreyfus-Cortney, Inc. has no control over the use of any product. The usability and suitability of any product for use is the sole responsibility of the purchaser and/or end user. NEVER EXCEED THE RATED CAPACITIES.

  2. DEFINITIONS AND WARNINGS GOVERNING THE PURCHASE AND USE OF PRODUCTS. THESE APPLY TO ALL PRODUCTS LISTED ON ANY ORIGINAL AND/OR ON-LINE CERTIFICATE:
RATED CAPACITY: The load which a new assembly may handle under given operating conditions and at an assumed DESIGN FACTOR.

PROOF TEST: A nondestructive tension test made by the assembly Manufacturer to verify construction and workmanship of the individual assembly(s).

NOMINAL STRENGTH: The published (catalog) strength calculated by a standard procedure that is accepted by the industry.

There are many other factors that may affect the strength of the assembly and/or hardware. Such factors include, but are not limited to:

  1. Method of end termination or attachment used.
  2. Type of hitch: Vertical, Choker, Basket.
  3. Radius of curvature around which assembly is bent.

WARNINGS: The terms “rated capacity”, “proof test” and “nominal strength” contain no implication of what load an assembly will withstand if any of the basic factors are changed or if it suffers abuse. Such changes will lessen the capacity of the assembly or hardware. Examples of such changes and abuses include but are not limited to the following:

  1. Twisting, knotting or kinking of the assembly legs.
  2. Obvious damage or disfigurement.
  3. Deterioration of the assembly by strain, usage, weathering corrosion, or lapse of time.
  4. Overload
  5. Used for any purpose other than that for which it was intended.
  6. Excessive acceleration or deceleration of the load, shock-loading or vibratory fatigue.
  7. Increased angles too far from the vertical due to load size, hitch or assembly length.
  8. Chemical or acid conditions and/or excessive temperatures.
  9. Cutting due to unpadded edges of the load.
  10. Foreign matter (i.e. sand, grit or metal shavings).
  11. Ultraviolet rays.

Purchaser notes that all above warning set forth apply to any assembly attachments as well as the assembly body.

THE ABOVE “DEFINITIONS AND WARNINGS GOVERNING THE PURCHASE AND USE OF ASSEMBLY(S) AND/OR HARDWARE” must be adhered to.

  1. DCL warrants and represents that the data and information provided within an on-line certificate is accurate and matches that of the original certificate and that the on-line certificate can be used for the purposes of confirming/verifying that the products listed on the certificate(s) have been tested as described. The on-line certificate is NOT a copy of the original certificate and the presentation format of the on-line certificate may differ than that of the original certificate.
  2. DCL issues a single original certificate for each assembly or item. As example, should a customer order on a single P.O. a multiple number of identical items, then each item will have its own unique certificate with a unique sequential serial number. In these situations, each original certificate contains the identical Proof Test data and information. The Certificate On-Line system presents this situation as one certificate applicable for the entire group of sequential serial numbers for the group of identical items per a single order (e.g. Assembly(s) 123456-1-1 through 123456-1- xxx). DCL warrants and represents that the on-line certificate is valid and applicable for all assemblies listed on a single certificate on-line.
